I attended the town hall meeting. The topic of the meeting was community integration. Sakuma town is dead and there are many empty buildings because the town can't pay off a debt. The population of the town is 15,000. The town want to integrate with Kawano town. Kawano town has a population of 50,000 and it doesn't have financial problems.
There were 5 panelists. Sakurako called Mami is 31 years old and she is a staff of Kawano town. She thinks that the integration doesn't have merits for her town. Saori called Saki is 40 years old and she works at the town hall of Kawano town. She said that she didn't want to integrate with Sakuma town because Sakuma town has some financial problems. Mami and Saki disagreed with the integration. Keiko called Junpei is a mayor of Sakuma town and he likes soccer. He thinks that it is the best way that the town integrate with Kawano town to solve the financial difficulty. Ayamasa called Jeff lives in Sakuma town. Mai called Kitty is 27 years old and she is a teacher of the elementary school. She thinks that the integration has a good effect on children.
An important point of the discussion was what Kawano town could get from the integration. Sakuma town will have many advantages by integrating with Kawano town, but Kawano town doesn't have any problems, so they don't need to integrate with Sakuma town. After all, they decided that Kawano town would not integrate with Sakuma town.
I thought that Sakuma town too much relied on Kawano town for help. They should try to solve the difficulty by themselves.
Panelists discussed cheerfully, so it was good. I thought that the moderator didn't have to repeat everything the panelists said.

I attended the town hall meeting. The topic of the discussion was that whether we allowed students to use cellular phones at schools or not. The junior high school and elementary school students can bring their cellular phones as noisemakers to the school, but teachers collect them at morning and bring them back after school.
There were 5 panelists. Shino called Mr. York id a professor of sociology. Chie called Bob is a high school teacher. He said that it is not good to use a cellular phone during class. Ai called Aiko is a high school student in the third grade. Mr. York, Bob, and Aiko disagree with the statement. Narumi called Akiko is a housewife and she has two daughters. Atsuko called Yukino is a high school student. They agree with the statement.
They decided to have the information class in the school, but they don't allow students bring cellular phone to the school. I didn't know the point of the discussion. I thought that they didn't need to discuss the statement. Students can't use their cellular phone at school, so there is not any problems. They should have set the situation carefully.

I attended the town hall meeting. The topic of the meeting was that weather we should have extra exercise classes before the first class in the morning in the junior high school or not. The academic ability of the students is very high, but they lack physical strength. It is hard to do club activities because the number of students is not enough.
There were 5 panelists. Kazuyo called Kazuko is a member of the Japan physical association. Yuki called Yuta is a junior high school student. He likes doing sports. They agreed with the statement. Hitomi called Yoshiko has a son who is a junior high school student. He doesn't like sports. If the extra exercise class start, Yoshiko will have to get up earlier than now. Kisato called Manabu works at Benessa corporation. He doesn't want to lose the academic abilities. Kana called Takao is a mathematics teacher. He thinks that many students will sleep at classes because of tiredness from the exercise. Yoshiko, Manabu, and Takao disagreed with the statement.
The important point of the discussion was which is important, academic ability or physical strength. The outcome of the discussion was that the junior high school will have extra exercise classes in the morning twice a week. Students in the third grade don't need take the class. They will start the class from April.
I think that they don't need develop students' physical strength because their academic abilities are very high. They can extend their academic abilities. If they decrease the number of club activities, they can do sports. My elementary school had 60 students and 4 club activities, so we could enjoy club activities. I didn't know why it is a problem that students' physical abilities were low. Kazuko talked with the result of a survey of Tokyo, so her opinion was persuasive.

I'm sorry. I was absent the class.

I read the report of the discussion. The topic was the merger of two schools, Sakura school and Momizi school. I think that the merger have a good effect on children. When I was an elementary school student, my school merged with another. It was sad that my old school was closed, but I was able to make many friends. It is important for children to communicate many friends, so I agree with the topic.

We talk about school in the class. Yuki has had lessons for swimming. I was surprised. I had taken swimming lessons, too when I was an elementary school student. Ayumi likes being a student because she doesn't want to work yet.
I listened to the presentation of Kotomi and Hitomi. I knew about Kaera Kimura. I don't listen to her songs, but I want to listen to them. I like Studio Ghibli's animated movie, too.

I attended the town hall meeting. The topic of the discussion was that whether we should build a big department store in our town or not. there is a shopping street which have 80 stores in our town. The shopping street is active. There were 5 panelists and there were 3 people in disagree side. Chie called Yumeko is 53 years old. She often read technical books. She buys the books at Gatsby's book store. Shino called Gatsby is 28 years old and he is an Indian man. He runs a book store in the shopping street. If the new department store is constructed, many customers will go to shopping there. It is hard for Gatsby to find a new job because he is a foreigner. Yuho called Ayumi is an university student. Atsuko called Syoko is 65 years old. She lives in an area where is far from the shopping street. She has a villa and pays high fixed assent tax. She wants to sell the villa and build the department store there. Ai called Kaori is a housewife and she is 27 years old. She agreed with the topic because she wanted to go shopping easier.
Important points of the discussion were why the department store should be built and the future of people who run stores at the shopping street such as Gatsby. The outcome of the discussion was that they decided to not build the new department store and build second stores of the original stores near the shopping street. They make some events to promote the shopping street.
I didn't know why they came to these conclusion. It is meaningless to build second stores near the shopping street. At least, they should build them near the Shoko's house. I think two buses an hour is enough to go shopping. Shoko was a little selfish. They were off the point. They should have set the situation strictly. It was good that all panelists spoke their opinion equally.

I attended the city hall meeting. The topic of the discussion was that whether we should separate trash strictly or not. There were 5 panelists. Kazuyo called Kazutaro works at a waste treatment center. She must separate mixed trash. It is very hard. Kana called Starkey is a professor of environment in Kyoto university. They agreed with the topic. Yuki called Yutaro is a student. She lives alone and she doesn't have enough money, so she doesn't want to buy garbage bags. The garbage bags are too expensive. Hitomi called Kozue is a housewife and she is 35 years old. She has children and they produce a lot of trash. Kisato called Akio is a top of Mdonald. The company produces many rubbish, but there are no space to gather trash and the company must pay more labor cost to separate trash. Therefore, Yutaro, Kozue, and Akio disagreed with the topic.
A important point of the discussion was why they don't separate trash. The outcome of the discussion was that the waste treatment center decided to correct trash of companies every day and to give trash box which shut out bad smell to citizens.
I think it is a matter of course to separate trash. It is a little hard to separate trash, but we must do it to protect environment. Companies should be a good model. I have a part-time job in a fast food restaurant and we set separated trash box. Many customers separate their trash rightly. Some customers don't separate trash, so we have to separate them, but it don't take any effort. I don't think it is difficult to separate trash.
The focus of the discussion was not clear. The topic wasn't proper to discuss because it was a matter of course to separate trash.They wrote important words and the meanings on the blackboard, so I can understand the contents of the discussion easily. It was good that audience exchanged their opinions.
